  • About the Chi Psi Chapter of AOII

We are the Chi Psi chapter of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. We were colonized in 1985, and fifty six members were initiated when the chapter was officially installed on March 9, 1986 by the International President. We currently reside at a lovely house on Foothill.

We are very active in the San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly communities, with members participating in various organizations throughout. We also are very involved in the Greek Community and participate in philanthropies such as Delta Chi Kickball, TKE Powderpuff Football, Lambda Cabana, AEII Dodgeball, Pike Softball, and Greek Week.

The object of the Fraternity shall be to encourage a spirit of Fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty; to strive for and support the best interest of the colleges and universities in which chapters are installed, and in no way to disregard, injure, or sacrifice those interests for the sake of prestige or advancement of the Fraternity or any of its chapters.

    Our Philanthropy...

Alpha Omicron Pi's official philanthropy is Arthritis Research. This cause was chosen because it is the nation's leading cause of disability. Since adopting Arthritis Research as its international philanthropy in 1967, Alpha Omicron Pi has raised over $1.5 million dollars for grants and research.

Established in 1977, the Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation was created to support the philanthropies and members of the Fraternity. The Foundation provides scholarships, educational grants and aid to sisters while providing the Fraternity with leadership grants and providing arthritis grants. The mission of the foundation is to fund programs that promote intellectual, ethical and leadership development.

  • Our Symbols

    The Badge

The badge of Alpha Omicron Pi is composed of the three Greek letters of the Fraternity's name, superimposed one upon the next in the order A O П. All initiated members have the honor of wearing this pin directly over her heart.

    Our Color

Alpha Omicron Pi has only one color: cardinal. Cardinal is the color of the Fraternity flower, the ruby and the ribbon occasionally worn under the badge to welcome a new collegiate chapter

    Our Jewel

Alpha Omicron Pi’s jewel is the ruby. The occasional use of pearls or diamonds in special badges has no significance or special meaning.

    Our Magazine

TO DRAGMA, which means "the sheaf", is AOII’s tri-annual magazine. The name was selected for three reasons: because it is a reminder of the common interest which unites all AOIIs, because it is a record of accomplishment (or harvest) and because it fittingly describes the purpose of such a publication: the uniting of members through communication..

    The Wheat

The wheat indicates usefulness in its harvest. The binding together of the wheat into a sheaf gives Alpha Omicron Pi the new member pin, the name for the magazine, and the rings for the Collegiate Chapter President and the International President.

    The Rose

The Nineteenth Century French deep red rose, General Jacqueminot, was chosen as the flower of Alpha Omicron Pi because its color is the symbol of the central and essential virtue of the Fraternity. The strong red coloring of the rose, with its overtones of courage and vigor, was selected for its richness of color and fragrance, combined with softness and modesty of bearing. This gorgeous flower also does not naturally grow any thorns.

    The Panda

While not an official symbol, the Fraternity considers the panda to be its mascot. The panda was chosen because it has no natural predators.
